The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accredits organizations with outpatient settings who reach nationally-recognized standards for the delivery of high-quality health care.
The certification of accreditation exhibits our commitment to our patients and communities in providing safe, high quality outpatient services. Both of our ambulatory surgery centers are recognized by this certification, and the OA Centers for Orthopaedics Outpatient Surgery Center achieved re-accreditation this June. This visit was unscheduled since they had elected to undergo a rigorous Medicare-deemed survey, and the surveyors appeared four weeks before the team at OA Centers for Orthopaedics had anticipated. However, the clinical leaders at the surgery center along with central services had been hard at work getting ready for the survey.
Joanne Leblanc, Director of Surgical Services says, “Preparing for this survey was an exceptional demonstration of how a team of professionals can come together as content experts to achieve excellent results. It was a positive experience demonstrating how well we work together as a team. We complemented each other, we got it done even when we thought we weren’t ready. The survey exemplified the good systems already in place at OA. We followed in the footsteps of giants who had done very well on surveys in the past.”
The team of surveyors was impressed with how welcoming the staff at OA Centers for Orthopaedics were and repeatedly noted how the staff asked excellent questions and demonstrated a desire to learn and make improvements.
