We have the most specialized orthopaedic imaging in the state.
Our MRI Center is located on-site in our Portland facility. We use the very latest in scanner technology to ensure accurate results and patient comfort and safety. We are proud to note that our two MRI scanners have achieved the American College of Radiology (ACR) Gold Seal of Accreditation.
The only extremity scanner north of Boston
Our specialty extremity scanner* is the only one of its kind north of Boston. It allows you to remain comfortably seated in a reclining chair with only your affected arm or leg placed inside the scanner. This provides excellent imaging of hands, fingers, wrists, elbows, and feet, and virtually eliminates any claustrophobic fears.
Anxiety-reducing wide bore scanner
Our extra-wide body scanner** is spacious and roomy, which can greatly reduce any anxiety. It’s as large as a typical “open” MRI scanner, well lit and open at both ends. The extra space and light make it more comfortable so it can be easier to relax. Scanning is fast, with exam times of just 30-45 minutes. And, in many cases, a patient may go into the scanner feet first — meaning the head will remain near the opening, and sometimes completely outside the scanner.
Team of registered MRI technologists
Our MRI technologists are registered in radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) and have advanced certification in magnetic resonance. Our technologists specialize in orthopaedic patient care and anatomy and have developed specific skills in equipment protocols and examination techniques for the specialty scanners used at OA.
In short, OA’s combination of state-of-the-art equipment and specialty-trained orthopaedic MRI professionals means both the highest-quality images and a positive patient experience.
